Dicksonia Antartica

Ferns are cool, tree ferns are cooler. Last year I bought a relatively young dicksonia that grew  in a pot in the shade. For the winter I bound its leaves and wrapped some bubble plastic around it and kept it in a sheltered (covered but open) part of the garden. Winter started off nice and mild but in February the big freeze started. with regular temps below 15 degrees I but the tree fern into the shed (which is heated to keep the freezer going, ironic I know). It survived beautifully and kept all of its leaves. Now its out in the open again and growing away.
