Red Hot Container Coming Into Flower

The red hot container is slowly coming into its own. Primula Japonica 'Miller's Crimson' is still going strong. I rather enjoy the wedding cake like tiers of flowers. I also added a couple of plants including the Salvia argentea. I just could not resist the soft hairy leaves as a backdrop to all the red flowers.

Salvia 'Hot Lips' started to flower. The proportion of red to white changes with temperatures and in the ideal form there is more white with the red forming perfect 'lips'.

This is one of the oriental poppies from van Tubergen. It is however not the 'Manhattan' variety since that is supposed to be a pinky lilac. But I don't particularly mind the vivid orange is even better in the colour scheme.

I also added this little carnation. I usually don't like the look of them but I do love the perfume they have. This one seemed like a good trade off. It has vividly red flowers and darkish foliage and a lovely smell.

The Geum unfortunately died but the Dahlia is coming up and should be in flower in no time.
